Maesta 997 silver
MD997 & MS997
This flute is built by hand from .997 pure silver with the most precision and care. The extraordinary .997 pure silver produces as a brilliant sound, rich in overtones and with an astonishing projection.
The flutes can be fashioned using traditional soldered tone holes (MS997) or contemporary drawn tone holes (MD997). In the process of drawing tone holes, the tone hole material is formed by pulling up metal from the tube and rolling it off at the top. It changes the inner wall of the instrument and especially playing legato becomes more effortless. Soldered tone holes are sculpted seperately and then soldered precisely on the tube. This method creates an even and identical wall of the tube and offers an even more direct response as well as a greater stability of the body.
Continuing A Tradition of Innovation, French pointed arms from .925 sterling silver are combined with Pearl's Pinless Mechanism and the One-Piece Core-Bar construction resulting in the highest possible precision.
The most essential acoustical element of every flute is the headjoint, enabling the flutist to control the tone. Therefore not only experience in crafting is needed, but an understanding of the art of flute playing is demanded. In cooperation with world leading flutists like Benoit Fromanger and Janos Balint, the craftsmen at Pearl have designed four exceptional handmade headjoints, making it possible to meet your expectations and find your flute.
The Maesta series is at the heart of the Pearl handmade flutes and has been the jewel in our crown for many years. Many custom made options are available, just ask us!
