The most essential acoustical element of every flute is the headjoint, enabling the flutist to control the tone. Therefore not only experience in crafting is needed, but an understanding of the art of flute playing is demanded. In cooperation with world leading flutists like Benoit Fromanger and Janos Balint, the craftsmen at Pearl have designed four exceptional handmade headjoints, enabling the advanced flutists to choose the perfect headjoint for him.
Forte
The Forte headjoint has a lot of resonance and produces a dark centered tone. A wide dynamic spectrum is ensured throughout the entire range of the instrument.
Vivo
The Vivo headjoint combines its characteristic lip-plate with modern undercutting techniques. It provides a comfortable resistance and therefore allows a wide spectrum of sound colors as well as an open and clear tone.
Vivace
The Vivace headjoint is a combination of the Forte and Vivo cuts. It allows more resistance than the Forte headjoint and has a wide spectrum of tone colors.
Calore
The Calore headjoint is a perfect blend of powerful tone, effortless articulation and an exceptional dynamic range in one headjoint.
Different materials
The headjoints are available in different materials: gold, .925 sterling silver and .970 pristine silver for a rich tone and wide sound spectrum. Using gold in the headjoint riser or lip-plate can greatly enhance the projection, desired tonal quality and subtlety. The following applies for gold headjoints (10K, 14K or 18K): as the karat level increases, the sound becomes warmer, richer and the projection becomes bigger.
