Biography

Egbert Jan Louwerse was born in Amersfoort, Holland. He studied Flute with Pieter Odé at the Sweelink Conservatory and with Marieke Schneemann at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with whom he graduated at the highest possible level, specializing in Modern Music.

Besides fluteplaying he did courses in conducting, music with "Live-electronics" and composition. During three years he studied the complex rhythm and microtonalitiy of the Carnatic Music, the classical music of South India.

Although he works for several professional Dutch Orchestra's, Egbert Jan main interest is chamber music. He is one of the flutists of the Dutch Flutequartett with whom he was a prizewinner at the famous Kuhlau-Flutecompetition in Germany in 2001. With harpist Vera Kool he has a duo. In a septet he played with famous musicians as harpist Gwyneth Wentink, clarinet player Lars Wouters van den Oudenweijer and the Matangi Stringquartett. Together with viola player Jacco Hermsen and Vera Kool he forms the Trio Gargilesse.

Egbert Jan was a guest as a teacher and player at the International renowned Orlando Festival in 2004. There he played with famous musicians as Peter Brunt, Pauline Oostenrijk, Stefan Metz and Ken Hakii. With Vera Kool he recieved the honorous invitation to the worldfamous Académie Musicale de Villecroze in France in June 2008. "

He is a teacher in flute and chambermusic at the School of Arts in Woerden and co-owner of N.F.D.Flutes, a company specialized in flutes.

Egbert Jan is Professor of Flute and Chambermusic at the Prins Claus Conservatory Groningen.

Four outstanding handmade headjoints are available: Forte, Vivo, Calore and Vivace.

These elegant and perfect handmade engravings are possible on the keys and lip-plate.

The 14K Maesta flute is optionally available with gold plating. This brings a warm and dark element in the sound.

The tone holes are available either drawn or soldered.

Pointed arms both increase the stability and enhance the quality of the mechanism.

The 14K Maesta flute has an optional split E-mechanism that allows for secure attacks and smooth slurs to the third octave E.

Available with E-mechanism lever.

All models are available with in-line or off-set G key.

The C# trill key makes many trill fingerings easier and lets the high G#3 speak better. It also improves the intonation of both C#2 and C#3.

The One-Piece Core-Bar construction results in more playing comfort and less wear of the mechanism.

The G/A trill key makes the G3/A3 trill speak better (not possible in combination with the C# trill key).

The Pinless Mechanism ensures the stable connection of the mechanism and prevents it from corrosion.

The ergonomic D# roller simplifies movement of the right hand little finger.
