Biography

Sherry Finzer is a professional flutist residing in Phoenix, AZ.   Her artistic talent and versatility runs the gamut from classical to world, jazz, and pop music.  Sherry performs regularly in the Phoenix/Sedona/Tuscon area as a soloist and with several professional musicians, including guitarists Diego Andres, Jacob Tyler Lucas, John Calvert, and Ric Flauding; harpist VeeRonna Ragone (Desert Fusion and dulce VAS), and with pianist Annie Moscow (Ivory Wind).  Sherry is also a member of Trillium Flute Trio and CAFE (Central AZ Flute Ensemble). Her style and influences have been formed from taking a variety of lessons with professionals such as Goran Marcusson, Nestor Torres, Bradley Garner, Christopher Caliendo, Gary Schocker, Glennda Dove-Pellito, Joe Corral, Emily McKay, Claudia Anderson, Jeanie Pierce, Alexander Viazovtsev and Brian Luce.

Not long ago, Sherry recorded two CDs, "Passion and Roses" and "Guitarra del Sol," with world-renowned flamenco guitarist, Drew Diego Bennett.  Sherry has also released a solo CD, “Desert Journey,” and two flute duo CDs, "Watercolors" and "Unleashed." In the classical arena, Sherry has won numerous competitions.  She was selected from hundreds of entrants to perform with the National Flute Association's Professional Flute Choir on alto flute in August 2007 at NFA's Albuquerque Convention, the same in August 2006 at NFA's convention in Pittsburgh, and was also selected to perform in the Newly Published Music concert at the Pittsburgh convention.  Sherry won first place in the Arizona Flute Society Competition in November 2008, and the Great Southwest Flute Fair Competition in March of 2006 and 2007, where she performed in masterclasses with Michel Debost and Mimi Stillman.  She also won the Rochester Flute Association's competition in 2004 and 2002. 

As the Vice President and Program Chairperson for the Arizona Flute Society, Sherry helps bring in guest artists and educational programs for the flute community ( http://www.azflutes.org/). She is also the founder and executive director of the Arizona World Music Initiative ( http://www.azwmi.org/), which is an interactive music awareness program being presented to various schools and organizations throughout Arizona.

As a Pearl Flute Performing Artist and Clinician, Sherry holds flute choir workshops and masterclasses throughout Arizona.

Four outstanding handmade headjoints are available: Forte, Vivo, Calore and Vivace.

These elegant and perfect handmade engravings are possible on the keys and lip-plate.

The 14K Maesta flute is optionally available with gold plating. This brings a warm and dark element in the sound.

The tone holes are available either drawn or soldered.

Pointed arms both increase the stability and enhance the quality of the mechanism.

The 14K Maesta flute has an optional split E-mechanism that allows for secure attacks and smooth slurs to the third octave E.

Available with E-mechanism lever.

All models are available with in-line or off-set G key.

The C# trill key makes many trill fingerings easier and lets the high G#3 speak better. It also improves the intonation of both C#2 and C#3.

The One-Piece Core-Bar construction results in more playing comfort and less wear of the mechanism.

The G/A trill key makes the G3/A3 trill speak better (not possible in combination with the C# trill key).

The Pinless Mechanism ensures the stable connection of the mechanism and prevents it from corrosion.

The ergonomic D# roller simplifies movement of the right hand little finger.
